Ferdinand Mayr is a musician from Austria, with a great love for wine. Since 1997 he has made the switch to wine and started as a winemaker in Krems. In addition, he also works as a negociant and, together with a number of befriended winegrowers he brings a number of fine wines to the market.
Ferdinand Mayr achieved his dream of many years by launching his own wine label in 2009. A teacher at the Austrian Wine Academy, he’s always been passionate about authenticity and local viticulture. So little wonder he’s chosen to champion one of the nation’s most popular red grape varieties, Blaufränkisch, here. If you’ve never tasted it, here’s your chance.

Often compared to Pinot Noir, it’s medium-bodied and rich in ripe blackberry notes, spice and hints of lilac. This example is balanced and elegant, with fresh acidity and grippy tannins
