Chateau Saint Pierre Pomerol 2022

Country: France Region: Bordeaux (Pomerol)

Varietal: 87% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc

Vintage: 2022 Colour: Red Style: Dry

Producer: Chateau Saint Pierre

Description:
Located in the heart of the Pomerol appellation, a stone's throw from Saint-Jean Church, Château Saint-Pierre is an essential reference of the appellation. Château Saint-Pierre is renowned for its great Pomerol red wines produced with the focused attention of Stéphane Derenoncourt and Frédéric Massie, both world-renowned wine-consultants. Silky, full and structured, the wines of Château Saint-Pierre are undoubtedly Pomerols built to age.

Château Saint-Pierre 2022 is a Pomerol wine made from a vineyard of 1.6 hectares out of the property's 3 hectares. The vines are 30 years old on average and are located on the top of the plateau of the appellation, on mostly gravelly-sandy soils.

95-96 Points
James Suckling
"Deep, meaty and structured with full body and layers of fine-grained tannins, which are polished and velvety. Complex and long with a deep core of dark fruit. This is under the radar and has small plots near Le Pin and La Fleur Petrus."

92-94/100 Points
Jeb Dunnuck
"The 2022 Château Saint-Pierre (Pomerol) showed incredibly well. A blend of 87% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Franc, it offers a ripe, powerful style that has some obvious minerality in its black cherry, plum, and chocolate-laced aromatics. These carry to a medium to full-bodied, round, expansive Pomerol with solid tannins and a great finish. It could easily be the finest vintage I've tasted from this château."

92-94 Points
Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
"On the floral side, the wine is elegant, supple, lush and polished, with layers of silky plums, dark chocolate, black cherries and liquorice. Texturally, the wine offers layers of fruit, with refined tannins. The plummy finish is polished and fresh. Drink from 2025-2040."

Tasting Notes: On the nose it is lively and intense, mingling floral (violet) fragrances with delicately woody (sandalwood) notes. A smooth attack gives way to an airy palate with aromas of black tea and rose blend with a creamy feel.

Food Matches: Beef, Lamb Soft Cheese
